The second edition of the World Masters had an all-Welsh finale. Alan Evans and David "Rocky" Jones played the final which Alan Evans won fairly easily 3-1.

Once again the West Centre Hotel was the playing venue. It was the second and last time Phonogram was the sponsor of this event. There were no Dutch players entered this year.

The Belgian Maurice Maenhout made the last 32, where Englishman Burley eliminated him. A notable name in the field who would make an impact in later years: The 18-year-old Eric Bristow! This year however he could not impress yet and lost in the first round.
