WDF Europe Cup Men Singles 1996

Europe Cup X was held at the Astoria Convention Centre in Bundoran in Ireland from October 9 to 13th. No less than 23 countries participated in the men’s event, which was a new record. Austria, Spain, Hungary and the Isle of Man were the newcomers.

In the singles tournament the English, Dutch and Northern Irish players dominated and reached the quarterfinals. The English captain Martin Adams defeated Co Stompé (NED) 4-3 in the quarterfinals. The Northern Irishman Charlie Gaile saw off Steve Beaton (ENG) 4-2 and Ronnie Baxter (ENG) won 4-3 against the other Northern Irishman Geoff Wylie. Roland Scholten won by a wide margin (4-0) against Andy "The Viking" Fordham. In the first semi-final Martin Adams beat Charlie Gaille 4-2 and Roland Scholten won the other semi-final 4-2 against Ronnie Baxter. In a thrilling final, which ended in 4-3, Martin Adams took the title and brought England their tenth consecutive Europe Cup singles title.
