WDF Europe Cup Ladies Singles 1992

From 22 to 25 October, European Cup VIII was held in Kerava, Finland. Originally this Europe Cup was to be played in Granada, Spain, but the Spanish Darts Federation had to give the organisation back to the WDF. The Finnish Darts Organisation stepped in to make it possible for the tournament to commence.

The European Cup VI in the women’s was fought between 15 countries. The English ladies Sue Edwards and Sharon Colclough had the task to bring their country the fifth consecutive overall title.

In the women's singles both English ladies lost in the early stages to their biggest rivals, the ladies from Wales, who both managed to qualify for the semi-finals. Equally surprising was the fact that two German ladies (Heike Ernst and Astrid Kamm) reached the semi-finals.

Sandra Greatbatch won her match comfortably 4-0 against Astrid Kamm. Heike Ernst won after an exciting match against Rhian Speed 4-3. The final was probably the easiest game of the tournament for Heike Ernst. Sandra Greatbatch was always first on the double but could not hit them while Ernst took advantage and won 4-1. Heike Ernst became the first non-English lady to win the European Cup singles.
