The Premier League 2017 begins on February 2nd in Newcastle. Again, ten players will participate in this edition. This means that after nine weeks, when all ten players have played against each other once, two players will be dropped. In the remaining six weeks, all players must complete seven matches against the remaining opponents. The playoffs are in London on May 18th. Michael van Gerwen is the defending champion.

The World’s top four are automatically qualified for the 2017 Premier League, these are Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson, Peter Wright and Adrian Lewis. In addition, the British broadcaster Sky Sports has two wildcards, which are given to Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld. The last four spots are PDC wildcards. This year these four spots go to James Wade, Dave Chisnall, Jelle Klaasen and Kim Huybrechts.
