From 25 to August 27 the tournament is played at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, a new location for this event. Still eight PDC top players come over for this tournament and they take on a player from the Australian continent in the first round.

The eight big names this year are Michael van Gerwen, Phil Taylor, Gary Anderson, Adrian Lewis, Peter Wright, James Wade, Raymond van Barneveld and Dave Chisnall.

In the first round there was an immediate sensation. Two-time winner Phil Taylor loses, despite an average of 111.65 from the Australian talent Corey Cadby. One round later Peter Wright puts an end to the Australian fairy-tale when he beats Cadby. But an average of nearly 110 for the Australian makes it a near certainty we will see much more of him.

Michael van Gerwen becomes the winner of the third Perth Darts Masters. The Dutchman beats Dave Chisnall in the final having previously done the same with Kyle Anderson, James Wade and Peter Wright. For final opponent Chisnall it is his first final in a World Series tournament after great victories over Gary Anderson and Raymond van Barneveld.

It is the sixth World Series title for Van Gerwen, his first in Australia.
