The sixth edition of the Dutch Darts Masters was held at the MECC in Maastricht from 1 to 3 September.

Titleholder Michael van Gerwen wins the title for the fourth year in a row. After comfortable wins over Jeffrey de Zwaan and Kyle Anderson, it almost goes wrong for the Dutchman in the quarterfinals. Daryl Gurney drives him to the limit, but cannot prevent Van Gerwen winning 6-5 with a 12-darter in the final leg. It proves to be the highest hurdle for Mighty Mike, who in the semi-finals effortlessly beats Michael Smith and in the final is too strong for Steve Beaton (6-1).

Beaton starts the tournament as an unseeded player, but has a strong run where he gets better and better during the tournament. Nico Blum, Mensur Suljovic, Martin Schindler and John Henderson are convincingly defeated, after which the Bronzed Adonis in the semi-finals is too strong for the number two seed; Peter Wright. Wright has to play the whole tournament with loaned darts, as his suitcase has been lost on arrival in the Netherlands.

The many seeded players who fall early characterize the tournament. Only seven out of sixteen players reach the last sixteen. Biggest surprises this tournament are Robert Owen and Krzysztof Ratajski. Both men reach the quarterfinals of a EuroTour tournament for the first time, but do not crown their good weekend with a place in the top four.
