In 2013 the PDC start their World Tour. In that first year Dubai and Sydney are the stops. In Dubai the top eight in the world play in the first round. The venue is the Tennis Stadium in Dubai.
Michael van Gerwen wins the first edition of the tournament by defeating compatriot Raymond van Barneveld in the final. On his way to the finals the Dutchman also beats Wes Newton and Andy Hamilton.
Phil Taylor, who is ranked number one loses in the first round to fellow Stoke-on-Trent rival Andy Hamilton, while the number two seed, Adrian Lewis also did not survive the first round against Raymond van Barneveld.
