In 2003 Trina Gulliver became the Ladies World Champion for the third time in a row. She managed to do so against Anne Kirk in the final, who had defeated Francis Hoenselaar in the semis. The final was very one-sided with Gulliver winning the match 2-0.

For the first time, three Dutch ladies competed in the field of eight players. Hoenselaar reached the semi-final by beating Karin Krappen in a Dutch clash in the quarterfinal. Mieke de Boer made her debut at the Embassy by reaching the semi final, losing that match to Gulliver.
